Unfortunately, Tim’s lab results today weren’t as good as we'd hoped for. His bilirubin level is still too high for him to be eligible for the clinical trial at Kaiser. His level dropped a bit since last week, but not enough. We also checked with UCSF which is conducting a similar study using a different experimental drug for pancreatic cancer. But, UCSF has the same eligibility requirements as Kaiser's study so Tim wouldn't qualify for that one either.
We'll be meeting some time soon with Tim's oncologist to discuss whether or not to try testing again in a week, or to change course and start on one of the standard chemo treatments. We're trying to keep our spirits up, but it’s pretty discouraging.
The better news is that Paul’s latest lab results were good enough to postpone starting his chemo at least for another month or two. He’ll keep going in for routine tests to keep checking.
We really appreciate all the good vibes you're sending our way. We know there are lots of friends, family and co-workers who are behind us.
